Anderson horse track buying land for slot machine expansion

The owner of Hoosier Park in Anderson plans to buy 19 acres of land so the horse track can expand to add slot machines in the coming months.

The Indiana Horse Racing Commission on Friday approved a request from owner Centaur Inc. to buy the land. Hoosier Park president Rick Moore said construction plans have not been decided.

Indiana Downs near Shelbyville also is expected to undertake a construction project to house the 2,000 slot machines permitted under a new state law approved by legislators this year.
