Both Foxwoods Resort Casino and Mohegan Sun saw a dramatic drop in money played at their slot machines in May compared to this time last year.
Gamblers at Foxwoods put $787,294,719 into slot machines at the casino in May, about $42.5 million less than in May 2006. At Mohegan Sun, visitors played $868,563,683 at the slots, down $42.8 million from this month last year.
Connecticut's casinos have seen increased competition from other slot parlors and gaming facilities in the region. Both properties have begun at least $700 million in expansions at their properties.
